| The Fresh Face Showcase was started in 2002 by Shaan
Sharma, a local professional actor, model and fashion show producer. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and educating modeling and acting talent, especially minors and those new to the business. Working hand-in-hand with all the top modeling agents, acting agents, casting directors and photographers, the Fresh Face Showcase connects aspiring talent with the legitimate pros in the industry without having to spend thousands of dollars on scams, talent searches and "modeling schools". Every year, we produce a professional fashion show event to celebrate our mission, help spread the word about how to get started the right way and to generate press and attention around the issue of the exploitation of new modeling and acting talent. We estimate that as many as 9 out of 10 people trying to get into the business get taken advantage of by scams only out to cash in on people’s dreams, selling empty promises and useless classes and photography packages. Most of these people never even meet a real agent or get even one paying job as an actor or model. This only happens because people don’t know any better. The Fresh Face Showcase is changing that. In just 4 years and 4 shows, FFS has gotten four front-page stories in the Minneapolis Star Tribune, St. Paul Pioneer Press and The Minnesota Daily newspaper of the University of Minnesota. You’ll find links to those stories by clicking the LINKS tab on the left. Our next show, Fresh Face Showcase 5, will be held in Los Angeles in the spring of 2009. The show will feature 100 new models, clothing from dozens of designers and boutiques, hair and make-up by top stylists from salons and schools and professional music entertainment. The show is open to the public and all ages are welcome. During the rehearsals for the show, we teach all 100 new models about how to get started in the business the right way, including bringing in top agents to meet with them and answer questions. And did we mention that there’s no cost or catch to be involved? In addition, the Fresh Face Showcase has pre-negotiated unbeatable rates on headshot and fashion shoots with top photographers and headshot/comp card duplication houses. So after having participated in our show, not only do our models know what to do and where to go to get started, but they save money. And the Fresh Face Showcase is always there to provide answers to questions or for support. How can we afford to do all this? We can’t! That’s why we’re a non-profit! Without the incredible support of the industry and all our sponsors, donating everything from cash to products and services, the Fresh Face Showcase wouldn’t be possible.
